10-Year-Old Violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa Stuns Crowd On The Street
Talented violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa impresses strangers on the street as he busks for the very first time.
We first met Tyler when he auditioned for the 2019 season of America’s Got Talent. Before his performance, Tyler shared the heartbreaking story behind how he learned the violin.
This young boy was just 4 years old when his mom, Kisua, noticed something was off with her son. One night, his unusual behavior prompted her to take Tyler to the emergency room. That’s when the doctors ran blood tests and discovered that Tyler had leukemia.
After being treated with chemotherapy, Tyler began to lose his hair. He started to struggle with bullies at school who made fun of him because of his illness. At the age of seven, Tyler noticed a flyer advertising free violin lessons.
He begged his mother to let him attend and Tyler immediately fell in love with the musical instrument. He felt himself come out of his shell and forget about the battles he was facing.
During his audition, Tyler brought the judges to their feet with his unique instrumental rendition of ‘Stronger’ from Kelly Clarkson. The number even included some skilled dance moves with his light-up shoes.
Tyler earned the coveted golden buzzer from judge Simon Cowell to move him straight through to the live shows. Now, we’re looking back at some of Tyler’s previous performances, including the first time he played on the street at just 10 years old.
He was already catching the attention of strangers with his musical talent then. What an incredibly talented and inspiring young man.
