4-Year-Old Boy With Rare Disorder Plays Outside For The First Time
A 4-year-old boy with a rare disorder is playing outside for the very first time and the heartwarming moment is all captured on camera.
Brody was born with Chiari malformations, which are structural defects in the brain. It can cause trouble with balance and swallowing.
Brody requires the use of a feeding tube and his medication causes him to blister when he is out in the sun. He also has difficulty regulating his body temperature. Because of these symptoms, Brody is not able to play outside like a normal child.
For his 4th birthday, the kind people at the Make-A-Wish Foundation wanted to make it an event that Brody would really enjoy. When they asked his mother, Julia Rubin, about a gift for the young boy, she simply asked to help him go outside.
She told Inside Edition, “I thought the best wish would be like something he couldn’t do like a regular child. We wanted a play area that he could play outside.” Make-A-Wish employed a company from the UK to create a special tent that was temperature controlled and protected Brody from UV rays.
They built a deck in the Rubin’s backyard complete with turf to look like grass. Then, they brought in the custom tent and let Brody experience the joys of the outside world.
This joyful toddler was able to play in the water and run around with his friends. It was truly a moment more powerful than words can express. What an unforgettable birthday for sweet Brody!
