Army Chaplain Sings The National Anthem With Teenage Daughter
It was a moment that made the whole crowd go silent when this Army chaplain and his daughter sing ‘The National Anthem.’
Francis Scott Key penned the iconic song in 1814 after the events of The War Of 1812. British forces bombed Fort McHenry but the U.S. had proved victorious during the battle.
The next morning, Francis Scott Key spotted the American flag flying over the fort and he was hit with inspiration. What followed are the famous words that we all know and love today.
“O! say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?”
Today, Army Chaplain Paul Peterson and his daughter are lending their voices to this beloved song. It was truly a moment that made everyone stop and pause. Their incredible voices combined with these patriotic lyrics truly make this a rendition of ‘The National Anthem’ that you don’t want to miss.
Even though this is one of the toughest songs to perform, this daddy-daughter duo had no problems hitting all the right notes. No wonder everyone was talking about this unforgettable moment!
