Be Thou My Vision (Lord You Are)' Acoustic Performance From Shane And Shane
Contemporary Christian duo Shane and Shane lead us in worship with the beloved hymn ‘Be Thou My Vision.’
Even though we don’t know the original writer, it is believed that the poem may have been written by an Irish saint who experienced blindness later in life. This 8th century Irish hymn was originally translated by Eleanor Hull in 1912.
The version that we hear today is sung to the famed Irish folk tune ‘Slane.’ Over the years, many Christian artists and secular musicians have covered the hymn, leading to it’s growing popularity.
Despite its age, the powerful words of this classic hymn still ring true today.
“Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art -
thou my best thought, by day or by night;
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.”
Shane and Shane are a contemporary Christian duo consisting of Shane Barnard and Shane Everett. For decades, they have been paving the way in Christian music. Today, they are using their God-given talent to give praise to His Name with a beautiful rendition of ‘Be Thou My Vision.’
Just listen as they belt out these words that we all know and love.
“Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord.
Thou my great Father; thine own may I be,
thou in me dwelling and I one with thee.”
We are blessed to serve such a loving and gracious Father in Heaven. The words of ‘Be Thou My Vision’ remind us all of His goodness and faith. Let us sing these words out loud and let the whole world know of our King.
