During the American Idol Top 40 round, Camryn Leigh Smith sang a worship song for the audience and the judges.

The 16-year-old high school student from Acworth, Georgia sang ‘Break Every Chain’ by Tasha Cobbs.

“There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain”

Camryn is a strong Christian and it is amazing to see her keep her faith as a top priority, even when deciding on what song to sing in the competition.

“I had to go with my gut on this one,” Camryn says to the camera. “It isn’t the most ‘performance’ song, which is really important in this round. But I do think that the judges will see my heart in it. Jesus is my life, so I wanted to sing a song about the most important thing in my life.”

While she is performing, Camryn’s family is cheering her on as she loudly proclaims her faith from the stage. “I felt like I was leading worship in church,” Camryn says after she finishes the song. “It was really awesome!”

“Kudos to this young lady for lifting up the name of Jesus knowing it could end her run in this competition,” comments one person on YouTube. “Amazing! You go girl!”

“What you do for God will last! Super proud of you!” writes another YouTube user. “Camryn, you just let the whole world know that Jesus can break every chain. He used you to let someone who is going through know this. In this time of a worldwide virus, people need to hear this! Blessings on you.”

Even though Camryn didn’t make it through to the next round of American Idol, she stayed true to herself and to her faith. And what an incredible thing to know that many people were able to watch her lift up the name of Jesus on the show!
