Do The Impossible' Performance by Travis Cottrell Plus Meaning Behind the Song
Worship leader and solo artist Travis Cottrell performs “Do The Impossible” from his recent album “The Reason”. It’s no secret that life is hard and it requires a lot of prayer sometimes to get through the storms. This song is a reminder that we need to believe God not just when we pray for others, not just for the “big” storms but in all things.
“We bring to You all of our brokenness
We bring to You all of our need
With nothing but faith in Your faithfulness
God, we believe”
Travis shared that in one of Beth Moore’s bible studies titled Believe In God, build around the mantra, “God is who He says He Is. God can do what He says He can do. I am who God says I am. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I’m going to believe God.” It was this concept that brought Travis to write “Do The Impossible”. He wanted a song that would allow the believer to fully open themselves up to remembering how big God truly is and that He keeps his promises!
But belief in God as a miracle-worker is not exactly what this song is about. Instead of praying to make our own lives easier, the song is created as a prayer for strength in the struggles for the purpose of God’s glory. It’s not to further our own selfish wants and desires. Sometimes believe in God and trusting Him for help requires being willing to take that help however God chooses to offer it and that might mean He offers a different storm to wade through.
“Do the impossible
Pour out Your miracles
Let Your glory fall on us
Let Your glory fall on us!
Every struggle, Every stronghold
Every loss will be redeemed
What could ever, Stand against You?
All will bow before the King”
Our God is so much greater than this world. Amen? This battle has already been won, we know that our lives are for the glory of the King. May our prayer be that when we are broken, He is there to piece us together and help us continue to walk forward in the path that gives glory to his name!
