Dolly Parton Speaks Out After Death Of Kenny Rogers
After hearing about the death of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton speaks out in a video to share about how she is feeling.
“Well, I couldn’t believe it this morning when I got up and turned on the TV, checking to see what the coronavirus was doing,” says Dolly Parton. “And they told me that my friend and singing partner, Kenny Rogers, has passed away.”
Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton have been friends for decades and would collaborate on many songs together throughout the years.
Dolly went on to talk about how Kenny is probably talking with God right now about all that is happening in the world at this present moment. “And I know that we all know, Kenny’s in a better place than we are today,” she says. “But I’m pretty sure, he’s going to be talking to God sometime today, if he ain’t already. And he’s going to ask him to spread some light on a bunch of this darkness going on here.”
“I loved Kenny with all my heart,” Dolly continues. “My heart’s broken, and a big ‘ole chunk of it has gone with him today. And I think that I can speak for all his family, his friends, and fans when I say that I will always love you.”
As she holds tight to a picture of her and Kenny, Dolly ends the video with a message to her dear friend. “God bless you, Kenny. Fly high, straight to the arms of God. And to the rest of you, keep the faith.”
Other country stars took to social media after hearing that country and western music had lost such an icon.
“Kenny, Go rest high on that mountain,” writes Reba McEntire. “Please tell mama and daddy hi for me. Thank you for your friendship and your love. We are going to miss you but we are so happy you’re singing with the Angels in heaven. Can’t wait to see you again one of these days. Rest in peace my friend.”
“I can’t express on twitter the impact Kenny Rogers the artist and the man had on me. He was always very kind and fun to be around. Rest In Peace Gambler,” writes Blake Shelton.
May Kenny Rogers rest in peace, and may God bring peace and comfort to his loved ones during this tough time.
