God Be With You' A Cappella Performance
In this special a cappella performance, Kaoma Chende sings the hymn ‘God Be With You Till We Meet Again.’
“God be with you till we meet again;
By his counsels guide, uphold you;
With his sheep securely fold you.
God be with you till we meet again.”
For this video, Kaoma filmed himself doing all parts of the song and layered the videos on top of each other so it gives the illusion that there are four people on screen. How cool is that! And it is clear to see how talented Kaoma is since he is able to sing all four parts, showcasing his wide vocal range.
“I am so thankful for the gift of music!” Kaoma writes on his YouTube page. “Not really sure how our world would be without it. And so, as you visit my channel, I hope you will find a song or two that will be a blessing to you. I have a lot of fun putting these videos together. Thankful I can share my love for music with everyone that comes across it. All praise belongs to the most high.”
When it comes to the history of this hymn, ‘God Be With You Till We Meet Again’ was written in 1882 by Jeremiah Rankin. The composer of the music was William Tomer who was the music director at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church. Rankin was the pastor for the First Congregational Church in Washington, D.C. and the song was created so his church choir could have a hymn to sing when they parted each week. He got the idea for the first stanza of the song when he discovered that the term “good-bye” meant “God be with you.”
We hope you enjoy this song, and may you feel the grace and peace of God as you spend time in His presence today.
