Published In Music

Contemporary Christian artist Chris Tomlin puts us in the Christmas spirit with his beautiful rendition of ‘Little Drummer Boy.’

For decades, Chris Tomlin has been a staple in the Christian music scene. With hits such as ‘Good Good Father’ and ‘Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone),’ there is no doubt that he is one of the most popular modern day Christian artists. Today, he is lending his voice to a beloved Christmas classic as he sings ‘Little Drummer Boy.’

“Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum
When we come”

‘Little Drummer Boy’ was originally known as ‘Carol of the Drum.’ This stunning Christmas song tells the story of a poor boy called by the Magi to the birth of Jesus. Sadly, the boy had no gift to give the newborn King.

That’s when he decided to play his drum. And it was this simple gift that was one of the best presents for our Savior. This story serves as the perfect reminder that it’s not the cost of the gift that matters, but the heart behind it all.

Matthew 2:11 “And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh”
