Official Trailer for 'The Grinch' Starring Benjamin Cumberbatch
Another beloved Christmas movie is getting a makeover! The official trailer for The Grinch, is out and just in time for the upcoming holiday season. This 3D animation film will introduce today’s generation to a slightly new portrayal of the beloved fuzzy, green grump. The trailer shows us in animated splendor the world of the Grinch and Whoville. His faithful sidekick and beloved pet “Max” is also shown playing a more predominant role alongside his master as housekeeper, butler, and even armchair snuggle buddy!
Fans of the live action film and the original animated classic will enjoy this fresh take but may be thrown off at first by the Grinch’s new voice. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes and Avengers) as the Grinch, fans of the past films may take a few moments to warm up to the new vocal timbre. In some instances the vocal pattern is undeniably recognizable as “Sherlock” himself but still very convincing as the grumbling lime-colored meanie.
As expected, the Grinch is shown displaying how mean and miserable he can be especially towards the Whos in Whoville at Christmas-time. There is also a little daydream sequence of the Grinch becoming a flashy solo figure skater that may play a big part in the story line.
Unless the creators are holding something back, it’s a fairly predictable storyline. We aren’t sure if Cumberbatch’s huge fan following will flock to the theatres to see the remake. Do you think his very recognizable voice will affect your enjoyment of the film? We think this movie will still be a welcomed feature upon its release come November 9th, giving movie-goers an early jump start into the holiday season. Give it a try before you carve your own “roast beast” in late November and see how many “Sherlock-isms” you hear during the movie!
