Postal Worker Saves Dad And Daughter In Building Fire
Chris Turner is an Army veteran who now works for the Postal Service as a mail carrier. He lived in Germany for four years and was deployed several times to the war in Bosnia. During his time in the military, Chris was trained in combat first aid. “You’d have to give IV’s and CPR, and if anyone was ever to get injured, you’d know what to do.”
He was medically retired after an injury and that’s when he went to work for the Postal Service, where they hired many veterans. Little did Chris know that his military training would come in handy one day during his routine route. This amazing man ran right into an apartment fire when he heard people crying out for help. He had noticed the flames and smokes near the end of his route and knew he needed to do something.
That’s when he noticed a father and daughter on the second floor of the apartment complex. The fire was in the entranceway of the building, so the exit was blocked. Chris told the pair that they would have to jump out of the window in order to escape the flames. The teenage girl jumped into Chris’ arms but the father was afraid.
Soon, firefighters arrived and they used a ladder to rescue the frightened dad. This everyday hero even gave the young girl his jacket to keep warm since she only had on a t-shirt and sweatpants. Both dad and daughter are now safe thanks to Chris and his quick thinking. God definitely put this man in the right place at the right time!
