This Is The Day' Pat Barrett Live Performance

Published In Other

Pat Barrett, one of the primary singers and songwriters for the band Housefires and worship leader at Grace Midtown in Atlanta, gives a live performance of the new song ‘This Is The Day.”

“Always true
Always kind
God is good
All the time
Start of day
Dark of night
God is good
All the time
All the time”

The verses in ‘This Is The Day” touch on the attributes of God and talk about the kindness and goodness of His character. And the chorus of the song is taken directly from Psalm 118. “This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.”

When sharing the story behind the song, Pat Barrett talks about why he feels such a strong connection to the lyrics and the meaning the song conveys.

“One of the reasons I feel like this song has connected with me on a pretty deep level is because I love anything that makes you see the present differently,” says Barrett. He goes on to talk about how we, as a society, tend to be so busy and worried about the future that we are not focused on the current moment.

“That’s why in the Sermon on the Mount, I love when Jesus talks about worry,” explains Barrett. “Because he didn’t just say don’t worry, he talked about the way worry takes you out of today. He says, ‘Who of you by worrying can add one single minute or day to your life. Tomorrow’s got enough worries for itself. Be here. This moment is what you actually have. You don’t have tomorrow yet. You may not have tomorrow. But what you do have is here and now, and what will you do with the here and now that you’ve been given.’”

We can make a conscious decision each day to let something ruin the peace we have or let God’s peace reign in our lives. May we listen to the words of this song and the verse in Psalm 118 and rejoice in what God has laid before us.
