19-year-old Kailey Abel and her ‘smoky’ rendition of ‘Forever Young’ impresses veteran coach Blake Shelton.

This classic song was originally released in 1984 by the German band Alphaville. The song became a huge hit in the United States and led to numerous covers from nearly every genre.

“Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?”

Today, Kailey Abel is putting her own unique spin on ‘Forever Young’ as she competes for a spot on The Voice. As she belted out these familiar words, all of the judges took notice. Her signature ‘smoky’ voice was enough to make coach Blake Shelton press his button and turn around as she hit that beloved chorus.

“Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, and ever”

After the song ended, all of the coaches gave Kailey rave reviews. John Legend said, “When you growled, it was stunning. And we haven’t heard a sound like that, really, from anybody that we’ve seen in these blind auditions.” But no one was more excited than Blake when he realized that no other coach had turned his or her chairs and Kailey would automatically be on his team.

He paid her the biggest compliment when he said, “You have an incredible gift. I will say this right now. I would bet the farm on you winning this competition.” Do you think Kailey has what it takes to take the entire competition?
