God is a good God who does no evil. The ultimate source of evil is Satan. Yet the Bible, which true Christians regard as God's Word, says that God hardened hearts, put lying spirits in false prophets, deceived them, Blinded people to the truth, inflicted sickness, sent natural disasters, moved people to sin, and a number of other capricious acts. How do we reconcile the truth about God's love with these horrendous acts He is said to have done in His very own Word? The best way is to understand such passages in the "permissive sense."
