300 Soldiers Return Home To The Arms Of Their Waiting Families

Published In Other

There were no dry eyes at this reunion as hundreds of U.S. Army soldiers return home to the arms of their waiting families. They worked and sacrificed their time with loved ones by selflessly serving our country overseas. It was time for the homecoming they all deserved. The 300 soldiers were deployed in Afghanistan and tasked with training Afghan security forces to fight terrorism.

This exciting homecoming took place at Fort Carson in Colorado. As families waited in the packed gym for the arrival of their beloved soldiers, the anticipation was growing. Some of the children in attendance held colorful homemade signs that read “Wanted, The coolest Dad” or “Hey Army, hand over my Daddy!”

Cheers from all over the room could be heard as the soldiers from the 2nd Infantry Brigade combat and 4th Infantry Division came marching out of white billows from a fog machine! What an entrance! U.S. Flags were waving and shouts of joy erupted as the uniformed men and women entered the gym to find their waiting families. The homecoming was so emotional to watch as children went running into the arms of their long-missed parents. One little boy, with tears streaming down his face, told the cameras how proud he was of his Daddy.

The soldiers have been on deployment since February 2018 and arrive just in time for Veterans Day. Hoping they would receive a warm welcome, some soldiers arrived to meet their brand new family members! “It’s hard to believe, I left without having a son and now I have a son!” shared one proud soldier.

We are eternally thankful for the freedoms we have because of men and women like these who sacrifice for their country. Be sure to thank a Veteran as well as their families when you see them, not just on Veterans Day but year-round!
