Christian Artist Lauryn Evans Sings An America Medley
In this patriotic video, Christian artist Lauryn Evans sings a beautiful mashup of songs about our country including ‘God Bless America’, ‘America the Beautiful,’ and ‘God Bless the U.S.A.’ What a great American medley that will bring a smile to your face!
Lauryn starts off by singing ‘God Bless America’ which was originally written by Irving Berlin in 1918 during World War I. He later revised the song in 1938, right before the start of World War II.
“God bless America
Land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above”
Next, you hear Lauryn’s beautiful vocals singing ‘America the Beautiful.’ The lyrics to this song were first written as a poem by Katharine Lee Bates in 1895.
The music was originally written by Samuel A. Ward, a church organist and choirmaster, in 1882. But it wasn’t until 1910 that the poem by Bates and music by Ward was combined and published, with it becoming one of the most popular patriotic songs in the U.S. years later.
“O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties, above the fruited plain”
The last song that Lauryn covers in this patriotic medley is ‘God Bless the U.S.A.’ This song was written by country music artist Lee Greenwood in 1984 but rose in popularity after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
“From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston
From New York to L.A.
Where's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say”
It’s clear that God has gifted Lauryn with an angelic voice that has captured the hearts of many. And what a blessing that she not only uses her talent to glorify His name, but to also remind us of how wonderful it is to call this great country home!
