Christian Comedian Creates Veggie Tale Remix Song
In this hilarious video, Christian comedian Shama and his friend Andrew Simmons perform a Veggie Tales remix song that they wrote.
“If you like to talk to tomatoes
If a squash can make you smile
If you like to waltz with potatoes
Up and down the produce aisle
Have we got a show for you”
They start off with the familiar intro that you hear at the beginning of every Veggie Tales episode. They are even dressed in red and green to mimic Bob the tomato and Larry the cucumber, the main characters in Veggie Tales. Then, Shama starts rapping his new lyrics.
“Throwback, Sunday School
Best show, vegetables
Every episode, so cool
Learnin' 'bout God and the Bible”
It’s so funny listening to the lyrics that Shama raps and hearing all the references to popular Veggie Tales episodes. One line that stood out was “Oh, where, oh, where is my hairbrush, tho?”. He brings up other episodes in his rap and it is clear to see that Veggie Tales made an impression on him when he was younger. Just like it did for many kids who watched the show during their childhood.
This video was originally released a year ago, and since then it has garnered over 7 million views. With Veggie Tales being such a popular kids program that has been around for decades, it’s no wonder that this remix song went viral! It definitely takes you back while bringing a smile to your face.
According to his Instagram, Shama is an “African born/American raised, rapper, husband, dad, actor, and writer.” He is also a cohost of a podcast called Chruch Stories, where he interviews people and they share their funniest church anecdotes. His friend in the Veggie Tales video, Andrew, is a producer, mixer, and also plays the keyboard.
It’s great to see that these men used their talents to recreate something from their childhood and bring it back in a modern way for others to enjoy.
