Country Gospel Performance Of 'I Saw The Light' From Claudia Hoyser

Published In Other

Rising country star Claudia Hoyser performs the Hank Williams classic ‘I Saw The Light.’

This classic country song was originally written in 1947. Hank was riding in the backseat while returning from a show in Alabama.

His mother was driving him back to Montgomery. When she spotted the lights of Dannelly Field Airport, she knew they were close to the city. That’s when she said to Hank, ‘I just saw the light.’

After the song’s release, it wasn’t an instant success. But over the decades, ‘I Saw The Light’ has become one of Hank Williams most popular songs and spurred numerous covers. Some notable acts include The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Josh Turner.

“I wandered so aimless life filled with sin
I wouldn't let my dear saviour in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord I saw the light.”

Today, young country artist Claudia Hoyser is lending her vocals to the classic song as she performs an acoustic rendition at the Nashville Vineyard Church in Tennessee. Claudia is a social media sensation with over 40 million streams online and she continues to cross over into country radio. Just listen as she belts out these iconic lyrics while standing at the front of a beautiful church.

“I saw the light I saw the light
No more darkness no more night
Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.”

‘I Saw The Light’ has truly stood the test of time and it’s so incredible to hear the next generation sing this country gospel song and continue to the tradition.
