Country Singer Dee White Sings 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot'

Published In Music

Country singer Dee White performs an acoustic rendition of ‘Swing Low Sweet Chariot’ at the Nashville Vineyard Church in Tennessee. Countless artists have covered this beloved song over years and each one brings their own unique style to the powerful tune.

“Swing low, sweet chariot
Coming for to carry me home,
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home.”

‘Swing Low Sweet Chariot’ was written by Wallis Willis around 1865. But the first recording didn’t appear until in 1909 by the Fisk Jubilee Singers of Fisk University. That’s when the song truly started to take off and become the classic that we know and love today.

“If I get there before you do,
(Coming for to carry me home)
I'll cut a hole and pull you through.
(Coming for to carry me home)”

Dee White is an up and coming country singer with an incredible voice and talent for performing. Today, he’s at a beautiful church in Nashville, Tennessee to lend his voice to this gospel favorite.

You can truly tell that Dee puts so much passion into his music and it comes across with every single note. I always love hearing this classic hymn but watching it being performed in such a simple way is absolutely beautiful.

When we put our trust in the Lord, He will see us through everything and that's exactly what these lyrics remind us. One day, He will come to take us all home and what a glorious day that will be indeed.
