Facebook Scammer Turns Into Unlikely Friendship

Published In Other

Ben Taylor was immediately skeptical when he pulled up a Facebook message from a man in Liberia asking for money. He had heard of these types of scams before and had a strong dislike for them and how easily people can fall for these games. But Ben was curious, so he responded to the message asking how he could help. That's when he started a conversation with Joel, a man in Africa.

Ben made a proposal to Joel. He said he would pay him to send pictures of the sunset in his country using his phone. Much to his surprise, Joel sent back a few blurry photos. That's when Ben decided to go out on a whim and send Joel a camera with instructions on how to take better photos. Joel came back with photos of his village in Liberia, but Ben was taken aback over the poor conditions.

Ben decided to help Joel even more and turned all of the photos into a book and sell copies. He told Joel that he would send him half of the proceeds from the sales. The photo book sales went crazy and earned over $13,000 from buyers all over the country. Ben stuck to his word and gave Joel half of the sales but he wanted to use the other half to help out Joel's village. This is such an amazing story of an unlikely friendship with the best ending.
