Father And Son Sing 'Cats In The Cradle' Duet

Published In Other

One father and son sing a duet of Harry Chapin’s Grammy-nominated song ‘Cats In The Cradle’.

“My child arrived just the other day, he came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay, he learned to walk while I was away
And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew he'd say
‘I'm gonna be like you, dad, you know I'm gonna be like you’
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon, little boy blue and the man in the moon
‘When you coming home, dad?’ ‘I don't know when’
But we'll get together then, you know we'll have a good time then”

The father starts off singing the song while his son plays the piano. Then the dad picks up his guitar, and they both start to harmonize beautifully as they sing the chorus together.

The dad in this video is Tom Frye, and he is the lead singer in the Frye Family Band which consists of him, his family, and a family friend.

“Welcome to our family!” their bio reads on the band’s website. “We are the Frye Family Band – Kaylyn, Maggie & Seth Neal, Jonathon, Lisa Frye, and Eric Reynolds. It’s an honor to have our children thoroughly entrenched in the band (Kaylyn vocals, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, upright bass, Maggie vocals, keyboard, hammer dulcimer, lap dulcimer, ukulele, Jonathon vocals, drums and bass guitar, keys, recorder, ukulele, Maggie’s husband Seth rounds out the band on bass guitar, rhythm guitar, vocals) and Lisa assisting with Compassion International Child Sponsorship. And where would we be without Eric Reynolds on drums!”

It is wonderful to see this Christian group come together as a family and use their gifts to honor the Lord! May they continue doing what they love and bring joy to the people they perform for!
