Father Who Nearly Died Shares Touching Dance With Daughter At Wedding
This father was determined to share a dance with his daughter at her wedding and the result brought on thousands of tears. One of the most important moments in a woman’s life is when she gets married. It’s a time when she stands with the love of her life and they make a commitment to one another in front of God and family.
There are many special moments throughout the day, but one moment that always sticks out is the father-daughter dance. Normally done at the reception, this dance is always full of emotion. Bride Harmony Walton had always looked forward to this moment, but when her father fell ill, she feared it would never happen.
Bruce Walton is a former NFL player. In 2017, he thought he was sick with the flu but it was actually pneumonia. After collapsing one evening, Bruce suffered from traumatic brain injury and was placed in a medically induced coma for months. Thankfully, Bruce pulled through but the ordeal left him completely deaf and needing to use a walker for mobility. While Harmony was planning her wedding, she asked her dad if he wanted to participate in the traditional father-daughter dance. Bruce replied with a determined ‘yes.’
At the reception, her father chose ‘Over The Rainbow’ to play. And when he couldn’t hear the music, Harmony mouthed the words to her dad and they beautifully danced in sync. Bruce looks back on the moment saying, "It was very emotional for us both. I had zero rhythm with my dance moves but I didn’t care. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life, freeze framed in my mind forever."
