Heaven's Shore / Shenandoah' Medley From Southern Raised

Published In Music

Gospel bluegrass group, Southern Raised, is bringing their beautiful take to this popular Appalachian classic folk tune. “Heaven’s Shore / Shenandoah” Medley mixes inspirational Christian lyrics written by David Phelps to this moving mountain melody.

”To Heaven's shore, I journey onward
Across the rolling river
To Heaven's shore, I journey onward
Away, I'm bound away
Cross the Jordan river”

We are so blessed hearing the unique vocals of the members of Southern Raised in this gentle hymn of faith! Opening with lovely harmonies over the well-known and haunting sound of “Shenandoah”, we were captured from the start! The lyrics of “Heaven’s Shore” feel like they were always meant to be paired with the melodic folk song to create this stunning new hymn.

Siblings Lindsay, Sarah, Emily and Matt make up the Southern Raised band. The group were raised in the Ozark Mountains and have blended their traditional music roots with multiple genres and their deep-rooted faith.

“On Heaven's shore, I'll see my Savior
Falling on my knees before Him
On Heaven's shore, I'll see my Savior
And I'll raise my hands and sing…”

What a moving thought! To think of how precious that moment will be when we are face to face with our loving Savior, it truly gives us chills! There is something so peaceful when we stop and think about the beauty in creation, in the movement of the mountains and bubbling creeks, that the Creator of these wonderful sights is also the one we call “Father”. How much more stunning must Heaven be?!

“...Glory Hallelujah, Glory Hallelujah
Oh the glory there
Like a truth so rare
Joy for evermore
There on Heaven's shore”

What a glorious moment to know that our eternity will be spent with our Lord and Savior on Heaven’s shore! “For Heaven’s shore, I fix my compass…”
