Jennifer Hudson Performs Live Rendition Of 'Hallelujah'
Grammy award-winning artist Jennifer Hudson performs an awe-inspiring rendition of the hit song ‘Hallelujah.’
Leonard Cohen’s rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ is one of the most popular songs of all time. The powerful song was originally released in 1984, but it wasn’t until Jeff Buckley released the song on his 1994 album, ‘Grace’ that the song really started to gain momentum. Since that time, it’s become a worldwide phenomenon and cementing itself in music history.
Over the years, many artists have covered this powerful song, which sounds like a perfect blend of a rock ballad and a gospel song. Some notable covers include Bon Jovi, Pentatonix and Susan Boyle.
Today, powerhouse vocalist Jennifer Hudson is putting her own spin on ‘Hallelujah’ and it’s absolutely incredible. We first met Jennifer when she appeared as a contestant on the third season of American Idol.
She may not have won the competition but that clearly did not stop her from becoming a Hollywood legend. Jennifer went on to appear in hit films such as Dreamgirls, release multiple chart-climbing albums and she even received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Today, she’s at the Global Citizen Prize award ceremony for a special performance of ‘Hallelujah.’ Just listen as she stands on stage and belts out these iconic lyrics.
The whole crowd is on their feet as she hits every single note perfectly. This is not an easy song to sing but Jennifer makes it look so easy. This is definitely one rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ that you will want to hear again.
