I Need Thee Every Hour' Children's Choir Performs Classic Hymn

Published In Music

In this stunning performance, a children’s choir performs the classic hymn ‘I Need Thee Every Hour.’

Annie S. Hawks, who was an American poet and gospel hymnist, wrote ‘I Need Thee Every Hour’ in April 1872. It is a beautiful hymn and a testament to her constant devotion to the Lord. The song has remained popular throughout the years and is a favorite of many. In this video, the song starts off with an amazing voice coming from a talented young man as he sings the first verse.

“I need Thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine,
Can peace afford.
I need Thee, O I need Thee,
Every hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, Savior,
I come to Thee.”

Then, a dozen other talented students join in with all of their voices blending together so beautifully. The harmonies that they sing create such an angelic sound. Halfway through the video, the main singer switches from the young man to a young woman with an equally beautiful voice. The whole performance is inspiring and really shows off the God-given talent of all the students on stage!

The group is called OneVoice and they are a world-renowned a cappella group from Briarcrest Christian School. The music director of the group is Dr. J.D. Frizzell. OneVoice has collaborated with multiple Grammy winners, and they were featured performers on the red carpet at the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in 2018.

In 2016, they were seen by over 20 million people on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” and they won the Macy’s All-School A Cappella Challenge judged by #1 Billboard artists Pentatonix.

It is wonderful to see these kids sharing their gift with others and praising God together as well. May they continue to seek Him throughout their lives and always sing His praises!
