Lauren Mascitti Dedicates Solo Performance To Her Supportive Grandma On American Idol
In this touching performance, Lauren Mascitti dedicates her original song to her supportive grandma on American Idol.
“I’m a little bit nervous about performing a song I wrote, but it’s special to me,” Lauren says. “And I want people to hear it. You know, I really want to share a part of myself in my own songs.”
As she walks out in front of the judges, she shares with the audience what she plans on doing before she starts to sing. “I’m going to go out on a limb and not take advantage of this incredible band,” she explains while pointing to the big band behind her on the stage. “I wrote a song that celebrates the beauty and the uniqueness of being a woman, and I drew inspiration for that from that beautiful woman over there who is my Nana.”
As she points to her Nana, the camera pans over and we see that her grandmother’s face is just beaming with how proud she is to see her granddaughter up there pursuing her dreams.
“My Nana has always looked out for me. She was my first and strongest example of what a woman is supposed to be,” says Lauren. “Who I am as a person is because of her. She has encouraged me throughout my whole entire life. She’s feisty. She’s hilarious. She’s my hero.”
The song that Lauren wrote and performs is called ‘God Made A Woman.’ It is a beautiful and powerful song, and when she finishes her performance, all three judges give her a standing ovation.
After Lauren walks off the stage, she gives her Nana a huge embrace. What a special moment for the two of them!
May Lauren continue to follow her dreams and use the talent that God gave her to bring joy to others!
