Mark Lowry And Airline Pilot Sing 'Just A Closer Walk With Thee' In Airport
Christian artist Mark Lowry joins an airline pilot for an impromptu performance of ‘Just A Closer Walk With Thee.’
Though we don’t know the author of this classic hymn, it was first recorded in 1941. Since that time, this gospel tune has become an all-time favorite for many for it’s moving lyrics and jazz-like feel.
“Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be”
Today, popular Christian performer Mark Lowry is singing these words with an unlikely partner. Mark is well known for penning the modern-day Christmas hit ‘Mary, Did You Know?'
Over the years, he’s continued to write and sing all over the world. He is truly a staple in the Christian music scene and even performed with The Gaither Vocal Band.
Today, he continues to use his talents to give praise to our Lord through song. Recently, he was traveling through the airport in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The airline pilot recognized Mark and told him that he could play ‘Just A Closer Walk With Thee’ on the piano. The airport is home to a public piano that anyone can play. That’s when these two sat down and started to belt out these iconic lyrics.
While this pilot skillfully plays the hymn, Mark sings along. By the end of the chorus, both men are singing and the pilot is even showing off some impressive piano talent. It was an impromptu performance to give praise to the Lord and I hope others heard this sweet serenade.
