Police Officer Pulls Man Back Before He Jumps Off Bridge

If you decide to become a police officer, part of the job is never knowing exactly what to expect each day. No day is the same when you’re on patrol. You could be chasing down a robber or responding to a simple house alarm accidentally going off. Every day can bring a new challenge or surprise that you may not see coming. But police officers are always prepared to step up to the challenge and help when they are called.

Sheriff’s Deputy James Robinson recently responded without hesitation when he received a call about a man on the side of a bridge. When he arrived on scene, Deputy Robinson found the gentleman sitting on the edge of a guardrail on an overpass. After trying to talk to him for several minutes, the officer noticed the man put his cellphone down and that’s when Deputy Robinson knew he needed to do something drastic. He feared that the stranger had just sent his last goodbyes, so he rushed behind the man and pulled him from the ledge.

The body cam footage shows this dramatic rescue, but the officer wasn’t finished yet. He continued to talk to the gentleman letting him know that there was plenty left to live for and he was going to be okay. I’m sure this was a scary moment for Deputy Robinson, but he never let nerves get the best of him. He just knew that he needed to save that man on the bridge and did whatever he could to get him to safety. What a hero!
