A Cappella Group Performs 'Shenandoah'

Published In Music

The incredible a cappella voices of VOCES8 performs a stunning rendition of the folk classic ‘Shenandoah.’

As you listen to these words, be transported back in time to the days of rolling hills and endless rivers.

‘Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you
Look away, you rollin' river
Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you
Look away, we're bound away
Across the wide Missouri’

VOCES8 is an incredibly talented a cappella choir from Britain. On their website, the group describes their heartfelt mission. “The British vocal ensemble VOCES8 is proud to inspire people through music and share the joy of singing.” They have performed all around the globe with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Today, they are taking on a beloved classic with their incredible recording of ‘Shenandoah.’ Over the years, so many different artists have covered this popular tune. But hearing this a cappella rendition just might be my favorite.

Just listen as all of these talented voices come together and belt out the iconic lyrics live from Abbey Road.

“I'm bound away
'Cross the wide Missouri
'Tis seven long years since last I've seen you
And hear your roaming river”

‘Shenandoah’ definitely hits home for a lot of people and whenever they hear it, it stirs up fond memories of times long ago. There’s truly no place like home and that’s exactly what the lyrics remind us of.

Just hearing these voices calms my heart and it truly reminds me of what really matters in life.
