A Cappella Rendition Of 'What Child Is This' From Men's Choir

Published In Music

The a cappella men of Vocal Point perform a touching rendition of ‘What Child Is This.’ This classic hymn was written over hundred years ago, but the words are still so powerful today.

‘What Child is this
Who laid to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom Angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?’

William Chatterton Dix wrote this classic carol in 1865 after becoming ill and suffering from depression. While Dix was recovering, he found a renewed faith in God and he was inspired to write multiple hymns. Many years later, this Christmas song is still on the most famous hymns of the season. Today, the a cappella men of Vocal Point are performing this powerful song and it is sure to fill you with Christmas spirit. There is truly something special about hearing this hymn performed with no music. You can feel the weight and truth behind every single word.

‘This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.’

This traditional hymn is all about the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It was truly a miraculous night that Jesus was born in that manger in Bethlehem. That tiny baby wrapped in swaddling clothes was sent to Earth to save us all from our sins.

John 3:16 ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’
