Barbershop Quartet Performs 'Hey Good Lookin'' From Hank Williams

Published In Music

The talented barbershop quartet of New Image performs a rousing rendition of the Hank Williams classic, ‘Hey Good Lookin’.’

This is one of the most famous songs from the legendary musician and these four men certainly do it justice. Without any musical backing, they belt out these iconic lyrics with ease.

“Hey, Hey, Good Lookin’
whatcha got cookin’
How's about cookin' somethin' up with me …
Hey, sweet baby
don't you think maybe
We could find us a brand new recipe”

The origination of this beloved song is actually an interesting story. The song was written and recorded by Hank Williams in 1951. It was supposed to be released by Jimmy Dickens. Hank and Jimmy were good friends and, one day, Hank joked that it was about time that Jimmy had a hit song.

So, in about 20 minutes, Hank Williams wrote ‘Hey Good Lookin’.’ After he was finished, he liked the tune so much that he ended up recording it himself.

The song instantly hit number one on the country charts and spurred countless covers, including prominent artists such as George Jones and Ray Charles. The song was even inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2001.

Now, this barbershop quartet is putting their own spin on the tune and it’s one you don’t want to miss. There’s something about hearing this classic song performed a cappella that truly gives it an entirely new feel. And the men of New Image look like they’re having the time of their lives on stage. Who else loves this song?
