For King And Country 'Little Drummer Boy' (Rewrapped Music Video)
After last year’s amazing response to “Little Drummer Boy”, King and Country is back with a rewrapped drum-heavy version of the popular tune. They even named the Christmas tour after the updated song!
We don’t know about you, but “Little Drummer Boy” is synonymous with Christmas for us. Originally known as “Carol of the Drum”, the Christmas song tells the story of a poor boy called by the Magi to the birth of Jesus. He had no gift except to play his drum the best he could. The first recorded version of the song was by none other than the famous Trapp Family Singers (think ‘Sound of Music’).
Known for their theatrical videos, For King and Country’s live performance of “Little Drummer Boy” isn’t far behind those amazing staged videos. Opening with Luke playing a snare drum center stage before more and more drums are added to the mix. Joel runs on stage and the brothers join in a tight harmony of the opening chorus.
“Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum
When we come”
As the performance builds, the brothers continue their amazing vocals backed up by incredibly talented musicians and an impressive light show. Keeping with their creative performances, they even add a little seen harmonium to the mix (reed organ with a bellows similar to an accordion.)
As the song ends, an explosion goes off and streamers shoot out into the crowd as the lights and instruments give a grand finale finish to the popular song. This isn’t your Grandmother’s “Little Drummer Boy” but if the story were true and he played with half of this enthusiasm, we’re sure it would have been quite the celebration!
