GENTRI 'Little Drummer Boy' (Official Music Video)

Published In Other

Gentri is back with their version of a holiday favorite, “Little Drummer Boy.” As the move through a children’s hospital, the band mates include the kids in their joyous singing!

Featuring the children and staff of The Park City Hospital, it truly brings the concept of “bring what you can” to worship the Savior. Seeing the children who are fighting cancer being brought joy during the video is incredibly touching. During this time of year, we are brought closer together and reminded of the wonderful gifts that can’t be bought and wrapped such as time together, love for each other, and the Peace only God can bring. We should praise Him with whatever gifts we have whether they seem big or small just as the drummer boy in the song.

The video starts with one of the band mates dressed as a delivery man, handing over a package to one little hospital patient. The child in a wheelchair excitedly unwraps the large gift which turns out to be an acoustic guitar. The delivery man asks if he could try to play and the song begins with skillful tapping and strumming on the 6 strings. Another band-mate, disguised as a nurse in scrubs, begins singing the verse of the holiday favorite. Little by little the other band mates come out of the hallway belting out the Little Drummer Boy.

“Come they told me pa-rump-a-pum-pum. A newborn king to see pa-rump-a-pum-pum.

Our finest gifts we bring pa-rump-a-pum-pum.

To lay before the King, pa-rump-a-pum-pum, rump-a-pum-pum, rump-a-pum-pum.

So to honor Him pa-rump-a-pum-pum, when we come.”

The whole band walks down the halls of the hospital, wheeling the little child in the wheelchair visiting other kids in their hospital rooms. The group is later followed by members of The Skyward Symphony playing their instruments while marching. This song is a great reminder that we don’t need to have riches to bless someone with a gift during the holidays. It is a time to share with each other the love and hope Christ has given us by coming to this world and conquering sin. We hope these children (and the hospital staff!) were blessed with a moment to forget their problems and have fun while filming and sing this moving Christmas hymn!
