Grenfell Tower Survivor Stuns With Britain's Got Talent Audition

Published In Other

31-year-old Grenfell Tower survivor Leanna Mya inspires the crowd with her emotional audition on Britain’s Got Talent. When she walked out on stage, Leanna looked visibly nervous. When Simon asked about her motivation for auditioning, we learned the heartfelt truth.

“I’m a survivor from Grenfell Tower and I just made a decision that I want to do something positive and try to make something positive out of something negative.” In 2017, a fire broke out at the Grenfell Tower in West London. The building was 24 stories and the impact was devastating.

The blaze ultimately claimed 72 lives and many more were injured. Leanna was one of the survivors, along with her family. Out of this tragedy, Leanna decided to bring some much-need light into the world. That’s what brought her to Britain’s Got Talent today.

Just listen as she belts out the lyrics to Sam Smith’s smash hit ‘Lay Me Down.’ Her powerful voice combined with this touching ballad truly makes this audition one to remember. There were even a few tears in the eyes of the audience.

After the performance, the judges continued to sing her praises. Simon said, “I think this is really important what you just did. I’m actually surprised every year how many amazing people we meet on this show that have the courage to share something.”

It’s truly such an inspiration to watch a survivor overcome adversity to follow their dreams and impact others in such a positive way. We’re rooting for you, Leanna!
