Jeopardy Host Alex Trebek Starts Second Round Of Chemotherapy
Longtime Jeopardy host Alex Trebek reveals that he is undergoing a second round of chemotherapy after health setback.
In March of 2019, beloved television personality Alex Trebek announced to the world that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. But he pledged to continue hosting Jeopardy and mustering up all of his strength to defeat the grim diagnosis.
The 79-year-old inspired viewers by opening up about the realities of cancer and the treatment he is undergoing. After finishing his first round of chemotherapy, Alex was making great progress and shifted to immunotherapy.
Sadly, his numbers skyrocketed and doctors informed the host that he would need to undergo another round of chemo. But, just as he always has, Alex is taking every moment in stride and keeping an optimistic attitude.
In fact, he hasn’t missed one single day of work since his diagnosis. “I talk to the audience sometimes and I get teary-eyed for no reason. I don’t even bother to explain it anymore, I just experience it. I know it's a part of who I am and I just keep going.”
And when it comes to facing the future, Alex opened up saying, "I realize that there is an end in sight for me, just as there is for everyone else. One line that I have used with our staff in recent weeks and months is that when I do pass on, one thing they will not say at my funeral is, 'Oh, he was taken from us too soon.' Hey guys. I’m 79-years-old."
This inspiring man is certainly in our thoughts and prayers during this time.
