Powerhouse Vocalists Perform 'The Prayer' Duet On American Idol
American Idol hopefuls Cyniah Elise and Makayla Phillips team up for an unforgettable performance of ‘The Prayer.’
This powerful song was originally written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis in 1999. It was written in both English and Italian for artists Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli to sing solo. But it was their incredible duet performance that truly propelled the song into the classic that it is today.
These iconic words continue to hold a special place in hearts all around the world.
“So let the children remember the sun
Let them dance, let them soar
For their lives have begun
Let the children engender the rain
As the river runs through fields
Forever subsiding their pain
Prayer”
Today, another pair is hoping that their duet performance of ‘The Prayer’ is enough to impress the judges on American Idol. Cyniah Elise and Makayla Phillips are both powerhouse vocalists competing for their spot on American Idol.
After making it through their solo performances, the two partnered up for the brand new genre challenge. Two contestants choose a song, practice and then perform the duet in front of the judges. Cyniah and Makayla wanted to leave it all on stage so they decided to sing ‘The Prayer.’
This is not an easy song to pull off, especially with such short notice. But these two contestants nailed every single note and it was enough to move on to the next round. Who else is looking forward to seeing these two perform again?
