Take Me Home, Country Roads' The Petersens Bluegrass Performance

Published In Music

In this beautiful performance, the bluegrass band called The Petersens plays the popular song ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ by John Denver.

“Almost heaven, West Virginia,Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home to the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads”

“It was about time we covered this John Denver classic!” says The Petersens on their YouTube page. “Our dad actually grew up in West Virginia and some of our fondest childhood memories take place in those hills. Not to mention, John Denver is a family favorite. We hope you enjoy this song as much as we do!”

They filmed this music video in Branson, MO at Sycamore Creek Family Ranch, which is owned by friends of the Petersens.

This family band performs full-time in Branson, MO. The group consists of Katie Petersen on fiddle, Ellen Petersen on banjo, Matt Petersen on guitar, Julianne Petersen on mandolin, Karen Petersen on bass, and Emmett Franz on dobro.

They all are very talented, and they did such a great job making this video!

“I have never heard anything more heavenly,” comments one person on their YouTube page.

“As an older gent still existing in an ever-changing world, it's refreshing to see a mainly younger generation group that can interpret a song written well before they were born, re-arrange it in a bluegrass style, but perhaps even adding more feeling and emotion than the original,” writes another person on YouTube. “The harmony and feel, different than the original, but still the same. I feel sure that John would be smiling! You are a shining light so needed in our times. Thank you!”

May the Petersens keep shining their light and use their gifts to spread joy to those around them!
