The Ndlovu Youth Choir Overcome Obstacles To Inspire Judges And Crowd
The Ndlovu Youth Choir bring their unique sound to the America’s Got Talent stage with an emotional audition.
Started in 2009, the choir is a creative outlet for kids in South Africa. Led by artistic director Ralf Schmitt, this talented group has gained a following all over the world.
On their Facebook, it states that “the choir seeks to deliver an experience of infectious joy, a toe-tapping and energetic South African music ranging from Afro-Pop classics to traditional South African music and original compositions irresistibly combined with mesmerizing choreography.”
With their special style of sound, this choir is providing hope to it’s member. Director Ralf said, “When they join us, many of our kids have the weight of the world on their shoulders and, to them, their problems feel insurmountable.”
Now, the group has traveled all the way to the United States for their chance at stardom. “For us, it’s not easy to dream, so I didn’t like to smile. But after joining the choir, I found my voice and it brought back the smile on my face.”
The choir easily impressed the judges with their energetic performance of an original song, ‘My African Dream.’ The blend of vocal talent with dance truly makes this an audition to remember. But it was the symbolism of the moment that brought Ralf to tears.
“They come from one of the poorest communities in the world, yet these kids managed to lift themselves up. To see them standing on the stage of America’s Got Talent tonight, you can’t help but just burst with pride.” The Ndlovu Youth Choir is definitely an act to keep your eye on.
