Published In Music

This a cappella cover of the classic hymn ‘Trust and Obey’ is sure to uplift you and bring a smile to your face!

The talented singer, David Wesley, sang all the different parts to fill out this a cappella version of this popular hymn. What a creative way to perform it! And the upbeat and happy sound that he creates with this song makes you want to sing along with him.

John H. Sammis was the original writer of ‘Trust and Obey’ in 1887, and the music for the song was composed by Daniel Towner the year before. The text and music first appeared in the 1887 collection, Hymns Old and New, and the hymn and has been listed in countless hymnals since then. Methodist hymnals in the United States have included it since 1897. In 2006, the classic hymn got a major update by the group Big Daddy Weave.

“I had a lot of fun adapting their upbeat version of ‘Trust and Obey’ to my own a cappella style. I hope you enjoy,” states David on his YouTube page.

The lyrics of this uplifting song remind us that there is no other place our hearts find peace, forgiveness, and life than in Jesus Christ alone. We find true joy when we walk in his way.

“When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”

It’s great to see David using his talents to glorify God. He made such an incredible rendition of this wonderful hymn that is sure to encourage many!
