Young Man Performs Bluegrass Rendition Of 'Go Rest High On That Mountain'

Published In Music

Carson Peters and his bluegrass band perform a heartfelt rendition of ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’ from Vince Gill.

Vince started writing this iconic song in 1989, after the death of fellow country artist Keith Whitley. But it would be years before Vince was able to finally finish the special tune. After it was release, the song skyrocketed to the top of the charts. It won 2 Grammy awards and CMA's Song of the Year award in 1996.

‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’ is noted for the poignant lyrics that have stood the test of time and touched hearts all over the world.

“Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done.
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son.”

Today, young Carson Peters and Iron Mountain are performing this special song and it’s absolutely incredible. Carson became a viral sensation after his talented fiddle performances were posted online. Since that time, this country boy has continued to hone his talents and play all over the nation.

Now, he’s at the 2019 HoustonFest and this rendition of ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’ was definitely a showstopper. Carson’s band mates, Ben and Austin, provide backup vocals and musical accompaniment.

Together, they create the most beautiful sound full of harmonious melodies. These lyrics are such an important reminder that even when we lose a loved one, they are truly in a better place with our Father in Heaven. What a touching performance from these young men.
