Contestants Genavieve Linkowski And Travis Finlay Perform 'The Prayer' Duet
American Idol contestants Genavieve Linkowski and Travis Finlay hope that their rendition of ‘The Prayer’ is enough to make it to the solo rounds. This powerful song was originally written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis in 1999.
It was written in both English and Italian for artists Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli to sing solo. But it was their incredible duet performance that truly propelled the song into the classic that it is today.
“So let the children remember the sun
Let them dance, let them soar
For their lives have begun
Let the children engender the rain
As the river runs through fields
Forever subsiding their pain
Prayer”
Today, another talented duo is hoping that their duet performance will be enough to impress the judges and continue on their journey to be the next American Idol. Genavieve Linkowski and Travis Finlay were both standout performers during their initial audition. And Genavieve is no stranger to American Idol.
She actually made it all the way to Hollywood when she auditioned two years ago. But tragedy struck her family when her sister passed away and Genavieve didn’t know if she would ever sing again.
Thankfully, she’s back on the stage and she’s got an incredible duet partner in Travis Finlay. And as these two belt out the beautiful words of ‘The Prayer’ it easily earned them a spot in the solo round.
Now, only time will tell if one of these young artists has what it takes to be crowned the ultimate champion.
