Blessed Assurance' Classic Hymn From Southern Raised Bluegrass

Published In Music

The siblings of Southern Raised Bluegrass give all the glory to God with an inspiring rendition of ‘Blessed Assurance.

’This hymn was written in 1873 by Fanny Crosby who used music by Phoebe Knapp. Phoebe was visiting Fanny’s house one day when she played her a tune on the piano.

Phoebe asked Fanny what it sounded like and Fanny replied, ‘Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine!’ They continued to finish the composition and give us the hymn that we all know and love today.

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood."

Siblings Lindsay, Sarah, Emily and Matt make up the Southern Raised Bluegrass band. The group was raised in the Ozark Mountains and they have blended their traditional music upbringing with multiple genres and their deep-rooted faith.

Today, they’re using their incredible talents to share God’s message with the classic hymn ‘Blessed Assurance.’ Just listen as they belt out these powerful lyrics that we have all come to know and love.

“This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.”

Revelation 15:3 “And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations!”
